I personally don't believe in the anti plaque approach as any type of real solution to alzheimer's. I do believe its possible that perhaps some of those drugs could slightly slow the decline of the disease by disrupting the plaques and tau and tangles that damage the neurons and synapses...not enough to make any difference but perhaps enough to get something through the FDA like the memantine and other types of near useless drugs we have.

I think Biogen's pipeline and similar new drugs are limited in their dosage amounts due to brain swelling. My curiosity makes me wonder if bryostatin with its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to restore the blood brain barrier in a protective fashion could possibly be used to advance their type of MOA and allow for higher dosage? I doubt its something that we are interested in as bryostatin can degrade the plaques as well but I wonder if it would be something Biogen might consider and pursue in partnership to make a better drug for their mild to moderate attempts, not to mention their best in class of not so great MS drugs IMO. Just thinking out loud.
