it's thin both ways. so what? that's what happens when there's no reason to sell or buy. but things change.

one could argue "that's not a true representation of the bid", but the same could be said of the ask. if people want out, they wait to see some bid support and sell into it. they know stacking the ask will create fear and others may hit the bid before they can.

bottom line is the company hasn't said how they will restructure, what impact that may have on common shares, so... we're free to speculate.

imo retail shareholders are the only folks who would vote categorically "no RS" but all the other interested parties, whether 3(a)(10) settlement funders, or preferred holders, or bank lenders - none of them would want a 2.5B share OS, which is likely what we'd have after any merger.

why wouldn't they want to keep the OS huge?

because it totally dilutes the EPS of the stock. it makes their investment look bad. earnings are "bang for the investor buck", and we retail folks are not the ones taking the biggest risks, we are merely buying equity in the open market, so we get less say in the matter, when it comes to capital changes.
