Could it really be that simple??

Sounds like you go long or short at the close depending on the current day. If the trend continues then stay in position over night. The only problem is the big daily move in the opposite direction from your position, but then that is an issue no matter the system or timing service. Therein lies the use of a stop loss. Take the loss and what till the end of the day.

Any other rules??
