The trouble with understanding the S&H approach to cyclical/generational seasons is that like those on Earth, each particular region is in it’s own phase. China, for example, is where America was in the 1960’s. Russia is in a 1st Turning. How these overlaps play out on a global scale are intensely complex and not at all in sync with one another.

I have been thinking about the comparison of Trump to Lincoln over the past week or so- how both came to power intensely hated by at least half of the population and both hamstrung by administrations that worked diligently to impede the plans of the Presidency and to intentionally undermine it’s authority. It wasn’t until after the Battle of Shiloh that Lincoln was able to discover a single General willing to do his bidding, having watched McClellan drag his feet and dodge every engagement in order to both build up his base and to prepare for a future political move and ruin the chances of Lincoln ever running for re-election. And then Lincoln fired him.

Like it has been said a thousand times, history doesn’t repeat, but it definitely rhymes.
