We lived in Katonah, NY before we moved to AZ. We had a well on our property and one day I decided to send away for a water test. The instructions were to let the water sit overnight and put the bottle over the tap first thing in the morning and fill it up. The test came back that we were off the charts for arsenic. I remember we had all kinds of agencies come out to do extensive testing on our water and well. We didn't have to pay for it but must have been in the several thousands of dollars. It turns out that the brass fittings at the faucet collects arsenic and lead so the water should run for a few seconds in the morning before you drink it. Lesson learned! And the water testing company gave out bad information by not telling us that.
