NovoSeven (rFVIIa)
1.2 mg costs $1,228 = ~ $1,000,000 per gram = $1 billion per kilogram (approximately what Oprah's diets have cost per kilo lost!)

Gold
1.0 oz costs $580 = ~ $21 per gram = $21 thousand per kilogram

Diamonds (flawless/colorless)
1 carat costs $35,000 = ~ $175,000 per gram = $175 million per kilogram

Annual sales of NovoSeven estimated at approximately $800 million which represents less than 1kg.

GTC website... "Formally, choices range from mice, our model system with a generation time of 3 months and a milk yield of 1 ml, to rabbits with an 8 month generation time and 4 liter yield, to the largest commercial species, the cow. Cows have a generation time of 3 years, with an annual milk yield of 8000 liters... We have shown significant expression, (2-10g/L) of recombinant proteins in lactating goats. With an annual yield of 800 liters, over 1 kilogram of recombinant protein can be produced per lactating animal. "

That is 200 golden rabbits (each pumping out $5 million worth of FVIIa a year) or a single billion dollar goat! My gut tells me they are going to be able to price it at a very nice margin and still undercut the competition substantially (saving the Healthcare system(s) serious money and making LFB happy). As the price comes down, the trick will be to expand the indications and increase the volume and it seems Novo has intentions of doing just that so that when the LFB/GTC product launches the market may be substantially larger.
