Laughren (a FDA lifer) made his first move a bizarre one--suggesting all chronic psych meds should have two year PhIII efficacy data. That would have made it near impossible to ever get another antidepressant or antipsychotic through. Luckily, the Advisory Committee told him it was a stupid stupid idea, and he backed off. Katz is smarter, but less malleable.
