National security adviser H.R. McMaster, the guy who unloaded on his boss, calling him an "idiot" and a "dope" with the intelligence of a "kindergartner," is apparently now out.

The White House is preparing to replace H.R. McMaster as national security adviser as early as next month in a move orchestrated by chief of staff John Kelly and Defense Secretary James Mattis, according to five people familiar with the discussions.

The move would be the latest in a long string of staff shakeups at the White House over the past year and comes after months of strained relations between the president and McMaster.

A leading candidate to become President Donald Trump’s third national security adviser is the auto industry executive Stephen Biegun, according to the officials.

That's not as ridiculous on its face as it seems. While Biegun is currently an auto industry executive, he served on the staff of the National Security Council from 2001-2003. Which isn't necessarily comforting, considering that’s the period in which dire national security warnings were being ignored by the president, leading to the worst terrorist attack the nation has ever seen, followed up by a war of choice concocted out of lies in response to that attack. But maybe Biegun had nothing to do with any of that. We hope. As of now, however, his current employer, Ford Motor Company says "Steve has no plans to leave Ford."
