Emma Gonzales — a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL — laid into President Donald Trump, the National Rifle Association and Republicans who block gun control measures in an electrifying statement to a post-shooting rally on Saturday.
Gonzales declared that Wednesday’s horrific attack should be “the last mass shooting.”
She read Trump’s tone-deaf tweet about the incident aloud and said, “We know that they’re claiming that there are mental health issues and I am not a psychologist but we need to pay attention to the fact that this isn’t just a mental health issue.”
Nicholas Cruz, she said, “wouldn’t have harmed that many students with a knife. How about we stop blaming the victims for something that was the shooter’s fault?” She went on to scorch Trump for accepting $30 million in donations and 2016 elections support from the NRA.
