I didn't understand your argument about the second amendment and slavery. No doubt the second amendment was inspired in our psyche within the context of our relationship with England. But the need for a "well regulated militia" for the pragmatic purposes of controlling slave uprisings, is well documented by historians. Slave uprisings presented an existential threat to everyone in the country, as a our economy was based on the labor.
