As of last Friday night, both Brittenum twins were behind bars on charges that they used
another man’s identity to purchase a $23,000 car in Rockdale, County, Georgia.
Derrell Brittenum, who had been in the wind for weeks, finally turned himself in to authorities in
Georgia late Friday. His brother, Terrell, has been on lockdown in Shelby County, Tennessee
since Jan. 10 – both having been charged with forgery, theft by deception and financial identity fraud.
The 28-year-old brothers are accused of buying a 2005 Dodge Magnum last June using another
man’s financial information that was fraudulently obtained by Terrell. He was arrested Nov. 2 on
a fugitive charge; Derrell’s arrest came along with his written statement to police in which he
acknowledged knowing that he was in a stolen car.
The charges against the pair were discovered during a routine traffic stop in Memphis on Oct. 30,
when officers ran the plates on the Magnum and discovered that it was stolen and that the two had
outstanding warrants in Georgia over the incident.
Terrell remains in the Georgia jail without bond and Derrell sits in the Tennessee slammer on a $30,000 bond.
