IBM has yield problems at 130nm.

IBM had yield problems in every node for SoI-Wafers since they began volume-production with it in 1999, as far as I understand.

I'm not convinced they can make Opteron in volume on 130nm much less 90nm

I agree insofar as if IBM would charge their full costs to AMD for a foundry process, it would most probably make no sense for AMD to go for it. But IBM has a fab to fill (or should I say: a foundry strategy to defend) and could deliver for variable cost. Or even lower if they have a strategic intention with it. K.
