Not typically. You really need an entomologist to handle that stuff. Someone that is detail-oriented with respect to animal care. Microbiologists are good at DNA insertions, etc. I wouldn't leave those very different jobs to one person. Let you micro person do insertions, and let your husbandry person maintain the colonies actively as a solo job.
