The word manipulation may be too strong here. I think tomfoolery is part of the process of this "game" of price bouncing around.

The market price is like the "ball" in the sport of soccer and can be kicked around in every which way... confusing most participants at any given time of the play. Often there's no logic for it. Just kicking it randomly.
