My wife is a hematologist (by default that she is an oncologist). I asked her about factor VII usage. She usually hears about it when she is on call. Surgeons page her asking permission to use it. Without my prompting her, she called it Novo7 and speculated that it was expense that caused a hematologist to have to be consulted for use. She said it was good because (ulle's next post touched it) it is concentrated and most of the time these patients are old and sick and they just had surgery, so the fact that it's concentrated means you don't have to worry that the heart will be stressed (volume overload).
