Yes, I subscribe and it works great at least 99% of the time and that 1% is worth the difference in cost for sure.

Once in a blue moon it will say channel cannot load, and that's usually solved by changing channels and changing back. Less than a handful of times (but a world series game comes to mind) the channel has actually been just down due to issues at the source.

In any case - everyone loves cable EXCEPT the cost, and this is a very close substitute for a fraction of the price.

I advise you subscribe just to see it first hand and not need to rely on other people's assessment of the quality. I bought it for that reason, I keep it for that reason (oh ya, and I save a bunch on cable too so the test pays me).

I don't know about parental controls.
