Conservative author Evan Sayet wrote this column on President Trump — not former Livermore Mayor Dr. Marshall Kamena.
The column appeared at Town Hall in July 2017 under the headline, “He Fights [ https://townhall.com/columnists/evansayet/2017/07/13/he-fights-n2354580 ].” In November 2017, the column was incorrectly attributed to Marshall Kamena in forwarded emails and social media posts. Often appearing with the subject line, “One Man’s Opinion,” the email begins with this intro:

Marshall Kamena is a registered democrat and was elected mayor of Livermore, CA. He ran on the democratic ticket as he knew a Bay Area city would never vote for a republican. He is as conservative as they come. He wrote the following ..."

Marshall Kamena served as mayor [ https://patch.com/california/livermore/marshall-kamena ] of Livermore from 2001-2011, and as a council member from 1976-1985. However, the commentary’s claim that Kamena “ran on the democratic ticket” despite being “as conservative as the come” doesn’t stack up. Regardless of his political leanings, Kamena would [sic - could] not have run as a Democrat because the Livermore mayor is a non-partisan [ https://www.runforoffice.org/elected_offices/37840-livermore-city-mayor ] office.
