When you go to sell them it should give you the opportunity to roll them out to next week or any week in the future at the same or usually higher price.
Many Times I have Rolled (Example below) You do this when you think the stock will keep going higher. Also helps if you don't have time to watch as it gives you extra week or two.

Lets say you have 10 AMD $12.00 Calls for today at .09 Cents.
You can Roll them to next week for the $12.00 at .31 cents and pay the difference of .22 cents..
You could also roll to next week $13.00 at .08 cents and and get a .01 cent back as the cost is less.
Basically you are Selling and Buying new strikes without the Tax issues (I think, not sure about the taxes now)
