The generals have been faltering during the past few months. People believe that the leverage in earnings will occur in the mid cap stocks if the recovery ever materializes. Look at he percentage gains in mid cap stocks since March in these stocks.In addition there is a huge amount of funds in money market funds and markets climb a wall of worry. Volume is normally low during the last two weeks of August and the first week in September. I agree that volume must increase by the middle of next month. If I'm not in error, you stated that there was a record in flow into equity funds last month. I believe that this market has more legs since people may believe the train is leaving the station. During the past 75 years the market has been down 45 times. September is also a month that is usually down. Old maxims have fallen by the wayside this year. This market wants to go higher and next year is an election year.
