Does investors generally sell when it gets to the 200 day MA
No.... you been in a bear market to long lol

or do they just know when it stops running to get out

no again I have sold out only to watch the stock double from my exit.

some traders use trailing stops
some take profits at certain levels
others like me just guess lol

One thing I have learned is I like a profit better than a loss
so would rather leave money on the table than have a profit and watch it turn to a loss... JMO
