Stories like this put things into perspective. The advancement of medical technology. If you just stop for a second, and put yourself in the position of someone who has been told they are dying, it is really terrifying. Image the fear of leaving you family and kids behind.
My dad had pulmonary fibrosis. He was on a lung transplant list for over a year. We go in one day to see his doctors and they said he probably had to wait another 6 months or so, yet he had maybe two or three months to live. I remember he would spontaneously cry during this time period because he was scared. That night after we got back from the doctor appointment, he gets the call and they had a lung for him just like that. That was almost 3 years ago. My parents spent their 50th anniversary in the hospital but it was worth it.
It just really makes you wonder how many lives this treatment could save and how many lives it affects beyond just the sick ones.
Good for Melinda Welsh. I'm glad the treatment has at the very least, bought her more time.
