To walk back the idiot thing a little, your comment re his concern that a positive close counts all volume as positive and disguises any selling volume during the middle of the period is exactly the concern I have.
The only defense against such deception is to make the time period as short as possible. Hence, I ignore obv with period longer than 5min, as this allows 7.5 days at the stockchart maximum parameters, and 1min shows less than 2 days. I strongly believe that the best way to implement obv analysis is to compare price change between two points in time with obv change between the same points. Example, price has risen over the last hour while obv is lower over the same hour. I would view that as indication of significant selling pressure.
