But, to me, it's about consistency... if you're going to PR a delay about one thing, then you'd better stick with that strategy (especially when the issue is a much bigger one such as an audit). Consistency. State a deadline... update shareholders... miss the deadline. In THAT order. Not in the order: State a dealine... miss deadline... update shareholders.
It's all very simple communication protocol. Consistency. Perception Management. Very basic.
