And will not after all have a 2018 7nm part.

Well, we'll see what Intel has at this time. Its 14nm track record wasn't particularly good. Globalfoundries is at least capable to offer its process technology to customers from outside, something Intel seems to be absolutely incapable of. I'm telling you: Without this foundry business, Intel is screwed by its cost position with ever increasing R&D for the new fabs.

Lets face it GF are the a distant 4th in semi manufacturing, and I wont expect a 7nm Zen part before Q1 2020

So far, Globalfoundries licensed Samsung's process tech and that is pretty much on the top of the business. Remember that Samsung already released 10nm parts - and please don't try to tell me those are less dense than Intel's current processes. Intel lost its lead - face it!

As for claims that GF 14nm is denser than Intels well that just about is the greatest laugh I had all year.

Reading comprehension issues? From the article I linked to:

Globalfoundries 14nm / Intel 14nm
L2 512KB (1.5mm2/core) / 256KB (0.9mm2/Core)
L3 8MB, 16mm2 / 8MB, 19.1mm2

Real world matters, not a hypothetic SRAM cell.
