SemiconEng, --- Ha..... I don't believe that anyone can get an Itanium system for $1k, and I also don't think they'll be able to get an Opteron system for 1K either, so the point is probably moot.
I didn't know they weren't allowed to spend more than the 1k.

BTW, AMD did use some xeons at one time. Also, M$ has some linux mixed into its server scheme for the last virus patch. But, I can see how letting the employees "choose Wrong" is not somthing Intel would be graceful enough to handle.
