Ever since Catalent acquired Pharmatek, a San Diego California based Spray Drying Company, I began to speculate as a potential buyer for Mymetics. You see....Catalent didn't have a Spray Drying Capability before the MACIVIVA project. That's why the project's spray powder form has been assigned to Upperton http://www.upperton.com/ in UK. After more than a year, they acquired Pharmatek to established and include Spray Drying in their Drug Delivery Solutions Portfolio. I'm sure they saw a niche for the future of vaccines when involved in the MACIVIVA project. The acquisition established their Spray Drying footprint in North America. Heck, what a better way to do it in Europe as well right? I got the feeling Upperton will make that happen too. However Mymetics' Virosome Technology Platform which is MACIVIVA's key component of success will serve as a great addition to Catalent's Drug/Vaccine Delivery Solutions in providing Solid State(tablet/powder) Thermostable Cold Chain Independent Virosome-based Vaccines for life disabling and infectious diseases.
