The action you describe has been the norm since this artificial rally began back in March. The worse the news, the stronger the market and the same is true for individual stocks, which make strong gains on earnings reports that range from disappointing to disastrous and are accompanied by warnings on forward guidance --- IF they are leadership type stocks that are important to the markets.

I contend that this is the most manipulated market in history, from its inception during an incipient global market meltdown last March to today's close. I am not arguing that the manipulation is right or wrong, I am just saying it exists and it is best for your economic health to recognize it for what it is.
