SRDX could still do a dividend, but I don't think the board would want to. A dividend would change the perception of SRDX as a growth stock in an unfavorable way, IMHO. Although a $2 dividend would be bad for shorts and good for shareholders in the short term, a stock buyback makes the company stronger, which is good for the long term. A buyback (I think management is correct that $35 a share is undervalued) will hopefully be much more profitable than earning interest, and safer than "strategic investments". I like it.
