The following is in response to JefB regarding relevance of the 1-7-02 PR ... I`m a bit more specific and to the point here in connection with the ECLIPSE info I previously submitted ... hope it might be of some help ...
it just so happens that the 1-7-02 press release is, indeed, relevant ...
... "This collaboration highlights our ability to meet growing market demand for advanced, powerful automotive infotainment systems through partnering our Eclipse aftermarket and Fujitsu Ten OEMdevelopment teams with e.Digital, a state-of-the-art technology integrator and application developer."
... maybe you were aware that Fujitsu Ten is an OEM for Toyota, but others may not be ... and I`m suggesting that Fujitsu Ten was there in the beginning and will be there in the end !! Furthermore, ...
... "This collaboration provides an immediate opportunity to deliver fully integrated digital data management solutions, as an option or upgrade to our already substantial installed customer base."
... and compare that 1-7-02 statement with this taken from our most recent 10-K ...
... Users will be able to store and organize thousands of tracks on the unit, which is removable and plugs into a standard Eclipse head unit mounted in a vehicle.
... I`m suggesting that there is a big difference between a "particular" head unit [THEN] and a "standard" head unit [NOW]; consequently, that`s why I said, "It would appear to me that their, "already substantial installed customer base", has now become even more substantial !! JMHO, of course ... probably should have mentioned that I sent RP an e-mail recently asking him if the HD1213 "could be easily modified to function with other than just the ECLIPSE radio and CD changer, and if so, is there any interest by OEM`s to license this platform for use with other car audio systems ?" ... and in a subsequent phone conversation he indicated that these "expanded design perameters" will make our unit available, not for other car audio systems, but a wider range of ECLIPSE devices ... and you can believe that, or not !?!
Also, perhaps I was remiss in not including RP`s comment from the prior webcast ...
"We believe all three of these projects as well as the Odyssey 1000 being the fourth line of revenue, as well as some new OEM developments that we`re working on, all of them continue to not only be great revenue generators for the Company, but have significant follow-on orders depending on how they`re accepted in the marketplace, and all of them look like, from our vantage point, to have tremendous upside potential."
Certainly don`t want to be accused of hyping, and as far as your "revenue string" goes, I believe the Company has made it quite clear that the ECLIPSE HD1213 expects to be delivered this quarter ... and FWTW, the following are excerpts from a couple fairly recent posts here on RB ...
According to the Fujitsu Ten sales rep that jimee11 talked with, "the HD product 'is gonna be cool'" and "demand has been 'strong' for the product."</I>
... and according to bmpskr2: "ECLIPSE HD1213 avail. in sept. per my dealer ... My dealer had already been to 'training'."
I don`t know about you, but that certainly sounds encouraging to me !!
BTW, we`re still a couple years away from the ECLIPSE being factory-installed, but in the meantime there does exist a "substantial" ECLIPSE aftermarket customer base ... their word, not mine !!
