Cisckid,

If you believe Coinbase's website, then their customers are not screwed.

According to their website, Coinbase will NOT be keeping any of the split BCC for themselves. They just currently decided not to support the receiving and sending of the BCC. Their software does not support the BCC blockchain just the original BCH.

I think it was somewhat of a surprise to Coinbase that the Hard fork happened instead of the Soft fork (which they supported). Coinbase is one of the oldest and largest exchanges for cryto currencies so I am guessing they may decide to shift gears now that the fork has happened.

My understanding from reading some articles on this, coinbase did a similar thing with Ethereum when it had a fork. They eventually distributed the new currency to the customers. With this history, I imaging they will do the same with the Bitcoin.

It is annoying and I wish they would figure it out soon but I am pretty confident the BCC will eventually get distributed properly.
