Just going over the events of the past year, maybe DOCs tenure/control ended with The announcement of the Amgen deal in August 2016.
- After that, Christopher Duke was announced as the new COO, a board hire, not by DOC
- Soon after Lombardo was brought on, another board hire. The board obviously had some connection to the Channel Group where Lombardo is a partner.
- The channel group specializes in pharmaceutical/biotech mergers and acquisitions. They work in conjunction with companies/boards that hire them for a specific purpose. Lombardo has a background in the medical industry but nothing as far as immunotherapy. What other reason would the board bring in Lombardo then to finalize a sale?
- In my opinion I don't think they are going to name a permanent CEO. I think Lombardo was brought in for a specific goal in mind by the board, to work with the channel group to finalize a sale to Amgen - something that is not DOC's speciality or background.
- DOC likely did nothing wrong to cause his ouster. Rather the more I think about it, it was just a natural progression of a potential sale to Amgen once the wheels were put in motion
Just my two cents - thoughts?
