February 23, 2007|BY BECKY YERAK Just because the Chicago area isn't home to any big bank headquarters--it lost the last one in 2004, when Bank One was bought by JPMorgan Chase--that doesn't mean the industry's overall track record in creating jobs for the Windy City is dismal.
Banks, savings and loans, credit unions and other depository institutions in the Chicago area have added 1,875 jobs since 2000, according to World Business Chicago, citing Bureau of Labor Statistics figures crunched by Economy.com. . . . NEW PARTNERSHIP: Philadelphia-based energy company Atlas America has formed Lightfoot Capital Partners with Evanston-based hedge fund Magnetar Capital, as well as Lehman Bros. and Goldman Sachs.
The partnership will have initial equity funding of about $160 million and will invest in infrastructure and coal assets, among other things."
