I'm sure it's covered in the brokerage agreements some how, and anyone who tried to fight they were sold short the stock would have a tough uphill battle in court... I gotta' feel so sorry for the folks who didn't understand the system today, and licked their lips when they saw the shares they bought at .0001 or .0002 or whatever were trading at a penny or two... wonder what firm allowed the orders to come in...
I gotta' think it's someone oversea's or outside the states... that's my only thought... anyone know which firms allowed their customers to place erroneous post split orders earlier this year in the prior picks mentioned?
