Being that I am in both the IT and the Dev world I think people are looking to deep into this at the moment. I have never heard of a typical maintenance window lasting the entire weekend even with an overhaul. You typically try to minimize the window to the lowest volume time period - 2-4AM for instance. With an overhaul you would typically deployed your site to a test server to prove its functionality first, this is basic rules of Software QA and any seasoned developer or Agile Certified Developer would know this. My personal feeling is that this is just a simple unplanned outage. It happens all the time, this is not Facebook with 500+ million user trying to access the site which requires multiple levels of redundancy. This is an EV Company not a Web Development Company. They are most likely hosting there site at a well know Chinese hosting company and not maintaining there own dedicated servers. Time will tell, but personally I am not currently worried about a site outage.
