To your question regarding how management will handle the powder side of the business, I don't understand what Pyro is plannng. Pyro says they are doing this to help make this part of the business attractive for a future acquisition. At least that is my understanding. But what is the rush? Why are they planning to create a separate entity at this time. Would they even consider the position the powder business for sale with only a few reactors up and running.
IMO the thing that they appear short on is cash and maybe the internal capacity to develop and market their powders. But wouldn't entering a partnership with a big industrial company serve that purpose? Creating a separate entity just seem like it could be a distraction and an added cost .. money seemingly better spent building reactors.
On another pt. I am not strong in terms of assessing a company's value based on some of the traditional metrics (i.e., the fundementals). Lot harder using these metrics when looking at a growth stock like Pyro.
I would love to find someone who could do an analysis from this perspective. For example...what would Pyro have to sell in their various business sectors to justify their current valuation.
I am always concerned that the stock price tanks(any stock I own), and then I realize .. when I become a better investor ... that I should have been looking for certain markers/indicators that would have told me that a particular stock was way overvalued. Like to get my arms around those markers now rather then to learn the hard way after money.
Anybody with any suggestions???
ps. take a look at MTLS. Stock has also taken off. Love their model being about 3D industrial software (not hardware), been around for 20 years developing relationships with manufacturers and the fact that they are a service bureau as well. Since they are hardware agnostic...they can go anywhere that the 3D market wants to take them. How about MTLS and Pyro partnering up? Different business models but maybe some synergy.
Arcam, MTLS, Pyro, SLM are my current plays in 3D. I sold half of Arcam shares to cover cost of shares in these other companies. I know that I heard about Pyro from the Arcam board. I think it was you .. so a big thank you.
Arcam has gone no where since the acquisition. Very curious in terms of lack of progress (e.g., sales) since the acquisition. But still holding on. As long as we have Eliot and Mr. Singer on Board, then I don't think GE will be able to screw retail investors. Try though they might.
