A friend of mine just got tested positive on Hep B, and apparently there is no cure in market yet.

That’s true. There are HBV vaccines that are very effective at preventing infection; however, for chronically infected patients the approved drugs, such as GILD’s TAF, merely keep the virus subdued, and these drugs must be taken indefinitely—similar to the situation for patients with HIV.
