Wouldn't need shredder if decorticator worked.

In the March 27 video, Perlowin and Schmitt showed the new shredder, which they'll use to chop up kenaf and feed it to the mill for grinding. They say it will be working by the end of April.

If the decorticator and MacTavish lines were capable of working, the decorticator would strip the fiber from the kenaf and bale it for later cleaning, while sending the core to the MacTavish line for cleaning and preparation for milling.

You would end up with clean fiber, ground core and waste product (dirt and unuseable parts of the plant).

With a shredder, everything is simply chopped up and then milled. There will be no clean fiber to sell and the output of the mill won't be pure core. Instead, it will be a mishmash of relatively non-absorbent bast fiber, absorbent core fibers and dirt.

Bruce wouldn't need to purchase and install the shredder if the decorticator and MacTavish lines were capable of running by the end of April.
