sarals - Howdy. Mr. truck driver here.

I think you meant: "contrary to my mores, values and integrity".

One definition of mores is: "Norms seen as central to the functioning of a society and to its social life."

If you and I are talking about the same thing, namely, "someone (who), for whatever reason, became so enraged against a group of people, and your child was part of that group, that the enraged people decided to "take out" that entire group," I'll comment on your post.

I can tell you that your values and integrity seem to be in good shape and intact. But, as the hypothetical stated, the "enraged people decided to "take out" that entire group, (including your child, or children)", and you've told us that after you heard about this, you "would focus on other ways to resolve the conflict and protect myself...", I almost felt ill. Protecting yourself has nothing to do with this. Protecting your children, and the rest of society and its social life becomes the sine qua non of what mores refers to. And the only pre-emptive (sp.) attacks took place on 9/11/2001 and the list included at the end of this post...

Get over yourself. Help your 5 children, and society. These are terrorists who want us all dead; and, not the kids in the alley. Get a grip. You're either a victim or one who would fit this description: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. And might I add, his children and the rest of society.

While some people would partake in"encouraging use of brain power rather than brawn," others would be protecting your children and society in general, and probably, laying down their lives not only for their friends, but for the general populace also - people they don't even know... IMHO. Support the troups.

"I have tried to live my life so that my family would love me and my friends respect me. The others can do whatever the hell they please." ~ John Wayne

I'm out of here. Don't you people understand? Or do you think that your brain power is so great that you can change the mind of fanatics?????????????
