Ok now I get it - in your hypothetical you are always right. Funny but the world does not work that way. Of course when people are angry in your world and make threats they always mean those threats and must be dealt with in a violent manner. It's amazing but that type of action was more prevalent when I was younger and as I became an adult I saw less and less of that type of response. It seems a pretty base way of responding to serious problems. I guess that's why we became a nation of laws because there were too many people who said: hey I thought he was going to harm me. Who knows what evil lurks in the mind of man?

Actually the them I was referring to was the other side as from your original post they were threatening your child and not you.

As for "Shoot first, and ask questions later." This was always after the bad guy revealed his intentions. Not a bad way to live. actually it's a damn stupid way to live. As I suspect one would not be able to tell the good guys from the bad guys except in a book. It would revert back to the wild wild west and survival of the fittest.
