Do you think the health concerns with Botox are such that a better purity will matter?

Botox does not have any bona fide safety problems when injected by an experienced injector; nevertheless, enhanced product purity is an asset for RT002 in two ways:

• For some cosmetic patients, there’s a “yuck” factor in receiving an injection that contains a human-derived constituent such as the albumin in Botox. RT002, the only botulinum toxin on the market or in development that is entirely recombinant, sidesteps this problem.

• In such therapeutic indications as cervical dystonia, where the typical dose is 5-10x higher than in cosmetic indications, some Botox patients develop neutralizing antibodies, rendering subsequent treatment ineffective. RT002’s smaller molecular footprint compared to other botulinum toxins makes it less immunogenic, and no RT002 patients have experienced neutralizing antibodies in any clinical trials to date.
