BBI = TOAST => READ THIS!

1) I was driving with my wife and on comes the the business report from "1010 Wins News" detailing the most depressing news regarding Blockbuster quarterly results, mounting debt, downgrades on bonds, etc.
No matter how you listened, the story was so morbid, the listener could only conclude that the company was either in bankruptcy or soon to be defunct. This was heard by over 4 million listeners in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area. The perception created was that BBI was finished. True or not, the perception has been created.
2) We went out to dinner last night and across from the restaurant was one of the largest Block Busters I had ever seen. It was the size of a football field, with parking for 100 cars in front of the glass facade. And wouldn't you know it? Not a single customer in the store.
It was lit up bright in the night but no cars and no customers. There must have been 50,000 DVD's in this facility. I could not imagine the electricity, labor and leasing fees necessary to support this facility - all going to waste.
I then thought of Netflix working around the clock to get those DVD's delivered to customers, clearly a more efficient model.
But I have to tell you, even though I hate Blockbuster and the BBI idiots on this board, as a business man, it was downright depressing to look at that empty store.
