Thursday, August 24, 2006 - 2006 RDN Exploration Update

Vancouver, BC -- August 24, 2006: David Caulfield, President and CEO
of Rimfire Minerals Corporation (the "Company") updates the Company's
2006 progress. Management anticipates this to be Rimfire's busiest year
in terms of active projects and exploration expenditures. With nine
projects funded by the Company and its partners, expenditures are
expected to exceed $5 million dollars, 80% of which is funded by
partners. To date, programs have been completed on the Jake and RDN
properties...

Investors can expect that news releases detailing results of projects
summarized below will be released throughout the fall as analytical
data is received and results are compiled.

RDN PROJECT, Northwest BC: Northgate Minerals funded a recently
completed airborne geophysics and drilling program targeting Eskay
Creek-equivalent stratigraphy at the Arctic Grid. Age-dating and
geochemical analyses of rhyolite from this stratigraphy identified it
to be similar in age and composition to rhyolite associated with
precious metal-rich mineralization at the Eskay Creek Mine 50 km to the
south. Four holes totalling 1350 metres were drilled testing portions
of the five kilometres of prospective stratigraphy at the Arctic Grid.
