mvp - Your Housing Index is much different than the REITs ticker (IYR) that I follow. The Profunds (Long REPIX, Short SRPIX) correlates near perfectly with IYR so that is why I follow it. It appears that shorting opportunities last about 3months on IYR, but has been a much better long candidate.
Jan 4 - We have transitioned into a bear market. Completely different rules apply. May 23 - IMO, any price at/above this close makes a great Nasdaq/SP500 short.
