CRISPR-Cas9 is the "next big thing" in biotech because of its unprecedented precision in editing DNA. CRISPR, the acronym for "clustered, regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats," uses RNA to guide the molecular scissors, the Cas9 enzyme, to a specific DNA sequence where it makes a specific cut in the DNA and triggers the cell's DNA repair machinery to address the genetic defect.
The other post from Sunday on CRSP = Since Crisper Therapeutics business relies heavily on Dr. Charpentier's licenses, a decision against them could, at best, require them to ink a licensing deal with the Broad Institute or, at worst, be disastrous. A decision could come from the USPTO soon, so it's easy to see why investors are jumpy.
I also had another article that went into "real" detail that I didn't think anyone would read...what I understood was =All these companies that are working in this field will continue to do their research...but it will be decided soon who gets to be the patent holder... I'm just happy EDIT got the big price move yesterday because I had been hyping it to some of my newer students to follow...and I was also having fun with the "playing GOD" words with some that I know who are very radical Christians...
