We get the government we desire.

We get the condition of planet Earth we desire.

meaning,

The people of planet earth have spoken: We have continued without remorse to violate ourselves as a species and accept the consequences of our actions.

Now, as been done for eons, only when a person obtains a clear acknowledgment that their actions will result in a hurt, will they complain, which is not the lowest form of an action, but a showing that they are less than a zero for accountability.
