One thing that makes the city so beautiful is the striking contrast of old and new. You can see in some of those photos the old dhows used by the merchants to travel from Dubai to Iran and back. The photo showing the shopping center looks like the gold market to me. Just down the road is where the dhows tie up, and their goods stacked next to the road.
Of course the architecture is the most beautiful I have ever seen. However, most of the sights in those photos I have never seen.

And yet, the web is relatively new there, certainly not as much as a staple as it is here. How many businesses in the US can you NOT find on the web? Yet Wessal is not there, in English at least.
Maybe blackrock can help us find Wessal's arabic spelling, if he is still around???
