I have the opposite experience... I'm not part of the scene either, and nor are most of my acquaintances - but several of them, who have never been, shall we say, "avid" consumers, have gone to the trouble of getting a prescription - some merely out of curiosity... I think there are some fairly accommodating physicians out there.

I've been tempted, but all the doctors I know are too conservative to write me a prescription for stress or insomnia...
