The Marines were there by way of the U.N. as observers. The whole civil war was because the radicals in the Muslum world sent and supported by Syria didn't want to have Lebanon as a model country for Democracy with a Christian majority.
The Marines were only there to try and keep the peace between Christian and Muslum militias.
These tororist are not going to let any Government stand if it doesn't believe in their radical views.
They want to bring down Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Pakistan, Egypt, Yeman and the rest of the civilized countries that want to live and exist in peace. It's not just Israel they want gone. Israel is just there rallying cry to try and unite and ignite the ignorant masses.
