IMO the problem is one of patient safety and societal good, not short- or long-term investment. Even if you believe that the clinically superior legitimate drug will always outperform the heavily promoted scam drug in the market (which is a dubious belief, but besides the point), the scam drug will still be getting some nominal market share. The manufacturer of the legit drug's stock price may not suffer, but the patients receiving the scam drug will.
