Wonder what they did before message boards?

I would guarantee you that I am the oldest person on this board. I am so old that I am still amazed to see the speed with which things are communicated. It is also amazing to see the "instantaneous expectation" level of this generation. Not just here....but in general. The world kind of made you that way, so it's not entirely your fault.

A million years ago, when I bought my first stock, (yes,it was written on papyrus), I acutally got a certificate with the company logo....the whole works. It took three weeks to get to me by mail. The small investor like myself had to do the transaction by phone of course, wait for the broker to come on the line, check that I had an account, fill out the form. Whole process took 5 min. or so. It was terribly exciting. Others that I knew of would go to the brokerage houses and sit in big comfortable chairs and watch the "ticker" all day. I was never one of them.

Anxious was not a word I would have associated with any of those old transactions. I am sure they had daytraders "back then"..... in my world, it was usually the guy at the end of the bar, in the middle of the morning, using the payphone to call his broker.

Remember someone told me I should buy Studebaker. I loved those cars. I was a kid, and spent 1/2 of a summer's hard earned dollars and bought some of their stock. I was so jazzed. Later, those certificates looked nice for awhile lining the birdcage. Those and quite a few others.

Patience folks. There is a bigger picture, the world does not end at the closing bell of each trading day....That's all. It's not an hour T.V program, not a 90 minute movie. The ending is not all wrapped up by the final commercial. Patience: It is a commodity that is not traded on this market, but the market inside of your head. It is a highly undervalued,incredible investment.....paying huge rewards.

Now, I have to go take my meds. and my afternnoon nap. The nurse will be here to take me for a walk sometime soon. Got myself a brand new walker!.....racing stripes on the sides. Look out for me as you whizz past in those new Ferrari things.
